With the 2017-18 season getting close, the Los Angeles Lakers have announced their media day and training camp schedule.
After a busy offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers are getting close to the start of another season. Since the past few seasons haven’t been too kind to the Lakers, there is a lot of optimism going into this season.
In the offseason, the Lakers were able to make a few moves that should help the team improve for next season. The addition of Brook Lopez in a trade from the Brooklyn Nets gives the Lakers one of the best offensive centers in the NBA. In addition to Lopez, the Lakers were also able to sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a one-year deal. As a great two-way player, Pope gives the Lakers a shooting guard that will help them on both ends.
Most notably this offseason was how the Lakers did in the draft. Being able to get Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart, and Thomas Bryant has continued to spark hope in the future for the Lakers.
With some good young players on the team, training camp is a very important time for the Lakers. Just prior to the start of training camp, the Lakers will be holding their media day on September 25th from 12:30-2:30.
Following media day, the Lakers will then hold their training camp from September 26th to September 29th. Like the preseason, training camp will also be a bit shorter this season, as the NBA works to extend the regular season.
After training camp, the Lakers will be starting their preseason against the Minnesota Timberwolves on September 30th. With such a short amount of time for training camp, those four days will be very important.

While the Lakers have their starting lineup set, there are a lot of minutes to be grabbed off the bench. With a good training camp and preseason, some players will be able to earn spots in the rotation to start the season.
