Want to watch the Los Angeles Lakers retire Kobe Bryant’s jerseys? It will cost you a pretty penny.

The Los Angeles Lakers announced that Kobe Bryant will have his jersey retired this upcoming season. The Lakers have planned a halftime ceremony and will retire both No. 8 and No. 24.

The ceremony is planned for December 18th at STAPLES Center against the Golden State Warriors. With Bryant being one of the most popular Lakers ever, and with how significant of a day it will be, it is all but guaranteed to be one of the toughest Lakers tickets to acquire this season.

When the reigning champion Warriors are in town, it is always a hot ticket. Former MVP’s Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are a huge draw, as the Warriors roster is absolutely loaded.

Add in the ceremony for Bryant at halftime, and you have what will probably be the most popular game of the season. The ticket prices certainly reflect that.

According to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype, the ticket prices for the game in which Bryant’s jersey retirement will happen are astronomical. Kennedy shared on his Twitter account, via TickPick, that a ticket to the Warriors/Lakers game will cost an average of $988.

That is second to only the Christmas Day game between the Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers, which has an average ticket price of $1,092.

The ceremony is a big draw, but this is also a sign that the Lakers are on the rise. Tickets against the Warriors are always pricey, but having the second highest average ticket price is quite a feat.

Earlier this offseason, it was revealed that the Lakers were once again becoming a popular ticket. The Lakers season ticket inventory quickly sold out earlier in the summer. The excitement surrounding the Lakers young roster and Las Vegas Summer League success led to the team tripling their sales at a seat viewing event.

The Lakers are always a big draw. Even though they have struggled the past four seasons, celebrities still fill the seats at STAPLES Center. They are on the up and up, and tickets will become even tougher to come by in the coming seasons as the team improves on the court.
