LaVar Ball is no stranger to making a bold statement. His most recent was that the Los Angeles Lakers will win 50+ games.

After a strong offseason, many believe that the Los Angeles Lakers will be a much better team this coming season.

In the offseason, the Lakers were able to add center Brook Lopez in a trade with Brooklyn Nets. Also, they were able to sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a big one-year deal. As proven NBA players, both Lopez and Caldwell-Pope will help the Lakers right away.

In addition to those acquisitions, the Lakers also had a very strong showing during the NBA Draft. With their first pick, the Lakers selected point guard Lonzo Ball. For months before the draft, we heard that Ball was going to be heading to Los Angeles in the draft. When the day came, he certainly did.

Now, Ball will be looking to help restore the glory to the Lakers. While Lonzo is a relatively quiet kid, his father certainly is not. Recently, LaVar Ball was on ESPN First Take talking about the Lakers and, of course, Lonzo.

As expected LaVar made some bold statements on the show. Arguably the boldest was that the Lakers will win 50+ games this year. This is certainly a bold statement made by LaVar, as 50 wins would likely be good enough to get the Lakers in the playoffs, and even a middle seed in the Western Conference.

While the Lakers certainly did improve this offseason, that would be a big shock if the Lakers were able to get to that number. LaVar obviously has a lot of confidence that Lonzo will be a star right away in the NBA. If Lonzo does indeed have a monster rookie season, it would certainly help the Lakers reach 50 wins. However, it is very rare to see a rookie be a superstar right away in the NBA.

Some of the things LaVar says are bold, however, he is right once and a while. With the season right around the corner, we will have to wait and see.
