One of the benefits the Lonzo Ball of the Los Angeles Lakers will have in his rookie season is having a person like Magic Johnson to learn from.

As the Los Angeles Lakers attempt to turn things around, they appear to have a strong leadership group in the organization led by Magic Johnson. As one of the best players in franchise history, Johnson knows what it takes to win a title in Los Angeles.

Entering his first full season as the President of the Lakers, Johnson is hoping that after a strong offseason, the Lakers will be better on the court. One of the key additions for the Lakers was point guard Lonzo Ball.

Johnson has praised Ball quite a bit, and he has given him the keys to the castle already. Ball is going to be the starting point guard for the Lakers from day one, and that can come with a lot of pressure in Los Angeles. However, Ball is thankful that he has a person like Magic to help him.

Recently Ball talked about Magic being a helpful mentor to him on the LakersNation podcast. Here’s what he had to say.

"“He’s in there watching the workouts and stuff. Whenever he sees something he always lets me know. He tells me something pretty much every day. I’m just thankful to have him, and whatever he’s gonna tell me I’m definitely gonna listen and apply it the best way I can.”"

Ball has really shown a great attitude since being drafted by the Lakers. He wants to be the leader of this team, but he isn’t afraid to learn from others like Magic. Ball’s willingness to listen as a young player is certainly refreshing, and something that we don’t always see from top picks in the NBA.

Also, it is great to see Johnson so invested in trying to help the Lakers and Ball improve. While Walton is certainly a talented young coach, having Magic Johnson in the building can only help. With both on the same page and having the same vision for the team, success is going to be coming for the Lakers.
