The Los Angeles Lakers have recently signed center Andrew Bogut to a one-year deal. Here are three reasons why the move makes sense.
With training camp right around the corner, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to add a good veteran piece to their team. The addition of Andrew Bogut came as a surprise to many, but he might have a sizeable role on the Lakers next season.
In his career, Bogut has been a very solid center since being drafted with the first overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks. Injuries certainly played a part in Bogut never becoming a star in the NBA, but he has been able to have a very solid career for himself.
Bogut didn’t have a good season last year, as the Golden State Warriors got rid of him in order to sign Kevin Durant. Bogut appeared in just 27 games for the Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers. Even though he barely played last season, Bogut proved that he is still an elite rebounder, as he grabbed 8.1 rebounds per game.
Despite the down season, Bogut was the starting center for the Warriors in the 2015-16 season. Now, Bogut will be one of the veteran leaders on a young Lakers squad. Since the Lakers have had some struggles in recent years, it is good to get veterans like Bogut to help their young players develop.
Even though the move came as a surprise, here are three reasons why it’s a good move for the Lakers.
