One of the concerns for the Los Angeles Lakers has been the recent reports that Brook Lopez has a back issue. What did he have to say about his status for training camp?

In what ended up being a very busy offseason for the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the biggest moves was the acquisition of Brook Lopez.

As one of the top centers in the NBA, Lopez will be giving the Lakers a great player in the middle. Lopez is extremely polished offensively, as he can score in both the paint and has a nice mid-range jump shot.

Last season, we saw Lopez extend his range even more, as he can now shoot 3-pointers as well. Adding this new dynamic to his game will help make him an even better offensive player next season.

While many are excited to see what Lopez can bring to the Lakers, there has been some recent concern about a lingering back issue. In recent days, there have been some rumors that Lopez might miss time in the preseason because of his back. However, Lopez recently spoke to Bill Oram of the OCRegister about his status for training camp.

"Last week, Lopez quickly dismissed any concerns about his health, saying, “I’ll be going at training camp for sure.”"

This is certainly good news for the Lakers, as with a short training camp, getting chemistry with new teammates will be a challenge. In addition to having new teammates, Lopez will also be coming into an entirely new system.

As the focal point of the Nets’ offense, Lopez might have to take a little bit of a step back with the Lakers. Considering that the Lakers have some other good weapons on offense, Lonzo Ball will likely be facilitating to the open man. However, Lopez should be the Lakers’ No.1 option in their half-court offense.

With training camp starting on Tuesday, it will be interesting to monitor how involved Lopez is. Hopefully, his back is fine and it will be all systems go for the preseason.
