Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball has revealed a new signature shoe, scrapping the original plan for the ZO2.

When the Los Angeles Lakers took the court at the Las Vegas Summer League, there was a lot of buzz surrounding the team. The Lakers had a loaded roster and were the co-favorites to take home the Summer League title. A lot of the buzz surrounding the team revolved around rookie point guard, Lonzo Ball.

This would be the first time that Ball had a chance to showcase his talents in an NBA setting. The Lakers used the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft to select Ball and were excited to see what he could do on the court. The results were not too surprising.

After a rocky first game, Ball absolutely dominated. He recorded multiple triple-doubles and set a Las Vegas Summer League record for assists per game. Ball took home MVP honors, and rightfully so.

While Ball’s game garnered a lot of attention, what he wore on his feet was just as popular a topic. Ball debuted his first signature shoe, the ZO2’s, at the Las Vegas Summer League. He wore them the first two games in the summer, before changing.

Ball wore multiple shoes in Las Vegas. He wore Nike and Adidas shoes, stirring up quite a debate. Many people believed maybe his underwhelming performance could be tied to the shoes that he wore.

July 8th was the last time we saw Ball wear the ZO2’s. He wore the Nike Kobe AD and James Harden‘s signature shoe, the same shoe he wore at UCLA. Many people wondered why he changed, and now we may have an explanation why.

In a Slam Magazine exclusive, Ball revealed a new signature sneaker. Big Baller Brand scrapped the original plan, opting for a new design. Ball called it the lightest basketball sneaker ever made in the video.

The original design, which people were charged $495 for, will receive these new shoes instead. They are allowed to get a refund if they do not want the new design.

According to Slam, Ball has been weartesting the sneakers since late July, which would partly explain why Ball stopped wearing the original ZO2 design. The final modifications were made over the past two months, and they are likely to be debuted when the Lakers begin preseason games next week.
