The Los Angeles Lakers lost their first preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After the loss, Luke Walton wants his point guard to be more aggressive.
In their first preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Los Angeles Lakers were unable to get a win. Despite the loss, it was certainly exciting to see them back on the court preparing for the regular season.
As expected in the first preseason game, both teams were a bit sloppy. Since training camp only started on Tuesday for the Lakers, it was impossible to expect that they would be crisp in the win.
Despite it only being preseason, there was a lot of excitement surrounding the Lakers. One of the players that everyone had their eyes on was Lonzo Ball. In the loss, Ball was able to fill up the stat sheet, and overall he played alright.
In 36 minutes, Ball totaled five points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and two steals. Like we saw in the Summer League, Ball was able to contribute in all aspects of the game. However, he didn’t shoot the ball that well from the field, as he finished two-for-nine.
Despite struggling with his shot a bit, head coach Luke Walton wants Ball to be more aggressive looking for his shot.
As a natural floor general, Ball does an excellent setting up his teammates. However, sometimes that comes at the expense of his own shot. As we saw in the Las Vegas Summer League, Ball certainly score when he wants to be aggressive. Moving forward, it looks like Walton wants that from his point guard.

Considering it was only the first preseason game, Ball played pretty well. While there were certainly some nerves for him, he was able to hold his own. The Lakers will be back in action on Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets, as we will have to see if we see a more aggressive Ball in that game.
