Starting Point Guard: Lonzo Ball

The moment that the Lakers landed in the top-three of the NBA Draft Lottery, their new point guard of the future was going to be selected. With Markelle Fultz being selected by the Philadelphia 76ers, via a trade with the Boston Celtics, with the No. 1, the Lakers had the chance to pick UCLA point guard, Lonzo Ball.

Ball is the new face of the franchise. He has been saddled with the responsibility of pumping life back into the organization, something he looks to have already successfully done. Ball has been a polarizing player from the moment he declared for the draft.

Ball helped the Lakers win the Las Vegas Summer League championship, further hyping Ball’s expectations. Ball took home the MVP award in the Summer League but has been hampered by an ankle injury most of the preseason.

The ankle injury derailed Ball’s preseason, as he was knocked out on October 4th. Tonight will be the first time that he gets back into a game, as he missed the final three games of the preseason.

That will cause some rust, but Ball will be provided a long leash. He will be the starting point guard from the get-go and will lead the team in starts from the point guard position, barring any more injuries. His passing talent will be on full display on a nightly basis and his teammates will love playing alongside him.
