Los Angeles Lakers: 3 standouts from win vs Washington Wizards
The Los Angeles Lakers had an impressive come from behind victory over the Washington Wizards. Check out our slideshow of three standout Lakers from the victory.
The Los Angeles Lakers fell just short of a comeback attempt in their game against the New Orleans Pelicans last weekend. Last night, the Lakers were able to finish off their comeback against the Washington Wizards.
The Lakers were able to knock off the Wizards on Wednesday night, defeating Washington 102-99 in overtime. It was a great come from behind victory for the Lakers, who trailed by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Like in the game against the Pelicans, the Lakers did not stop trying despite the deficit. Unlike against the Pelicans, where the Lakers crumbled at the end as New Orleans finished the game on a 12-3 run, Washington found no such success.
The Lakers played their best defensive game of the season by far against the Wizards. Washington shot only 41.1 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from three-point land. The Lakers were able to hold Bradley Beal and John Wall relatively in check, as the two shot 18-of-45 from the field and 3-of-12 from deep.
The Lakers turned the ball over too many times, committing 21 in the game, but were able to control the tempo with a decisive rebounding advantage. It also limited the second chance opportunities for the Wizards, who had only six offensive rebounds despite 51 missed shots.
This was an impressive victory for a young Lakers squad against an Eastern Conference contender. It could be one that builds confidence and momentum to ride in the early going.
