The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Utah Jazz on Saturday night. Here is a recap and highlights from the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers were defeated by the Utah Jazz at Vivint Smart Home Arena 96-81. It is the second consecutive loss for the Lakers and their first loss on the road this season. The Jazz move to 3-3 on the season and remain undefeated at home.
For the second consecutive game, the Lakers offense was unable to gain any traction. The Jazz have one of the best defenses in the NBA, and the Lakers saw that firsthand tonight. The Lakers shot only 38.3 percent from the field and 22.7 percent from three-point land.
Brandon Ingram and Jordan Clarkson were the only players in double-figures for the Lakers, scoring 16 and 15 respectively. Not coincidentally, they were also the only players on the team to shoot at least 50 percent from the field.
Los Angeles’ bench did their best to keep them in the game, but the starters were unable to provide the same production. Every starter had a negative plus/minus ratio, with Brook Lopez have the best one at -9.

The Jazz, on the other hand, did well offensively. They shot well from the field, knocking down 46.8 percent. Where the biggest difference came was at the three-point line, where the Jazz shot 41.9 percent, making 13 compared to five for the Lakers.
Donovan Mitchell had a great game for Utah off their bench. He led the team with 22 points, including a highlight putback dunk that stalled all the Lakers’ momentum in the fourth quarter. He made three three-pointers in the game, joining Ricky Rubio, Rodney Hood and Joe Ingles as players to make three or more three-pointers in the game.
The Lakers also struggled on the interior. Utah easily won the rebounding battle, outrebounding the Lakers 49-39. The Lakers just didn’t have much of an answer on the interior for Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors.
