After beating the Detroit Pistons on Halloween, the Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Portland Trail Blazers in a thriller Thursday night.

After beating the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers were unable to complete a comeback against the Portland Trail Blazers. In what was thought to be a guard-dominated showdown, it was surprisingly a memorable night for the big men. Brook Lopez led the Lakers with 27 points and Jusuf Nurkic produced 28 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the Blazers.

For the Blazers, the stars came ready to play. The elite backcourt combined for 54 points on 44 percent shooting. Damian Lillard came in clutch with the game-winning three. The same could not be said for the Lakers, as Lonzo Ball ended the game scoreless on two shots.

Although the loss prolongs the Lakers’ search for a winning identity, chemistry and confidence continue to increase within the team. Additionally, the Lakers’ young stars continued to impress and give fans a reason to hold their head high.

The Lakers are now 3-5 on the season. They will be right back on the court Friday night when they host the Brooklyn Nets at the STAPLES Center. It will be an emotional game, as D’Angelo Russell will be making his first return to Los Angeles since trading him this offseason.

Before we get to that game, lets take a deeper look into the loss to the Trail Blazers. Here are three takeaways from the loss to Portland Thursday night.
