The Los Angeles Lakers spoil D’Angelo Russell’s return to STAPLES Center as they beat the Nets 124-112.

As the Los Angeles Lakers returned home from a heartbreaking loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, they looked to return to their winning ways as they took on the Brooklyn Nets. D’angelo Russell‘s return to L.A. headlined the game as he was expected to be “fired up,” but instead it was the Lakers’ players who stole the show.

The Lakers finished the game with six players scoring in double-digits and three players rebounding in double-digits. Brook Lopez carried the load once again as he finished the night with 34 points, 10 rebounds, and an outstanding six made three-pointers. Additionally, the team looked poised defensively as they added seven blocks and ten steals for the game.

Although the Nets lost, D’Angelo Russell had himself a decent game with 17 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, but shot a poor 33 percent from the field. Contrarily, the Nets’ budding star – Rondae Hollis-Jefferson – had an efficient game as he finished the night with 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists on 60 percent shooting from the floor and 82 percent from the line.

The Lakers are now 4-5 on the season. They will be back at STAPLES Center on Sunday night when they host the Memphis Grizzlies and look to get to the .500 mark. Before we get to that game, let’s take a deeper look into the Lakers’ win. Here are three takeaways from the win against Brooklyn Friday night.
