The Los Angeles Lakers were able to snap a three-game losing streak against the Phoenix Suns. However, it was not the regular lineup who closed out the win.
On Monday night, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to leave Phoenix with a 100-93 win over the Suns. On the final game of their road trip, the Lakers were certainly in need of a win. After losing three straight games to Eastern Conference teams, the Lakers did bounce back. However, it wasn’t a very pretty game.
In the win, the Lakers’ starting lineup really struggled for the most part. After becoming the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double, Lonzo Ball didn’t have a great night against the Suns.
Ball totaled seven points, five rebounds, five assists, and four turnovers in 28 minutes of action. Even though Ball had an off night, the Lakers were still able to win. One of the main reasons why was the play of Jordan Clarkson off the bench. Surprisingly, it was Clarkson at point guard to finish the game instead of Ball. Due to Clarkson playing well, Walton stuck with him and he was able to lead the Lakers to a win.
After the game, Ball spoke with Corey Hansford of LakersNation.com about sitting out in the fourth quarter. Here’s what he had to say.
"“We got a win so I’ve got no complaints,” Ball said afterward. “Teammates got a win in the fourth and I’m happy to at least get one on this road trip.”"
Considering how well Clarkson played against the Suns, he certainly deserved to be on the court to finish the game. He was the leading scorer for the Lakers with 25 points on 11-for-19 shooting from the field.

It was certainly good to see that Ball was all about the team getting a much-needed win and wasn’t upset about not playing down the stretch. This isn’t the first time that Walton has rode the hot hands down the stretch of a game, and it likely won’t be the last. If you are playing well, Walton will certainly find a way for you to get minutes.
