Los Angeles Lakers: Nick Young looking to have big performance on Wednesday

OAKLAND, CA - NOVEMBER 27: Nick Young

The Los Angeles Lakers will be facing the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. This means a meeting with old friend Nick Young.

For the last four seasons, there were few more entertaining players on Los Angeles Lakers than guard Nick Young. With a great personality and a fun game to watch on the floor, Young was quickly a fan-favorite in Los Angeles.

This offseason, Young decided to decline his option making himself a free agent. As a player that hasn’t been able to enjoy a lot of team success in his career, Young made the decision to join the Golden State Warriors. Coming off an NBA Title, the Warriors were poised to repeat even before adding Nick Young into the mix.

Knowing that he wouldn’t have nearly as large of a role on the Warriors this season, Young has embraced his role as a bench player for the Warriors this season. Even though Young is playing less than 20 minutes per game for the Warriors, Lakers fans know that he can get hot and go off on any night. According to Young, that’s what he plans to do on Wednesday.

"“I’m going to go in and try to kill them guys,” Young said Tuesday, per the Bay Area News Group’s Mark Medina. “I’m going to be talking trash and just having fun.”"

After seeing what Lou Williams was able to do to the Lakers on Monday night, Young will be looking to replicate his former teammate’s 42-point performance. While Young doesn’t normally play big minutes for the Warriors, he might see some extra playing time with Kevin Durant being listed as questionable for the game. If Durant is unable to play, this obviously opens up more minutes on the wing.

It will certainly be strange to see Young in a Warriors uniform at the Staples Center after playing in Los Angeles for four seasons. Even though there were some ups and downs, it was certainly a fun ride. Hopefully, the Lakers don’t allow Young to go bonkers on them, and that the team instead is able to find a way to defeat the defending champs.
