The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Golden State Warriors in a thriller as Lonzo Ball and Stephen Curry dueled for the first time.

The Los Angeles Lakers headed into their game against the Warriors with high hopes for a win. The team stood at a record of 8-12 and was coming off a heartbreaking loss against the Los Angeles Clippers. Furthermore, the team had lost seven of its last 10 games.

The Golden State Warriors also came into the matchup determined to win. The champs entered with a 15-6 record – second in the Western Conference – but were coming off a loss against the Sacramento Kings. Unlike that game however, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry were active and played against the Lakers.

The biggest topic of the evening, however, was Lonzo Ball vs. Stephen Curry. Ever since LaVar Ball said Lonzo will be better than Steph, NBA fans all across the globe have been waiting for the contest. The matchup lived up to expectations as both players showcased high I.Q. basketball and pushed their team in trying to get a win.

The Warriors ended up winning in OT with a score of 127-123. Curry scored 28 points along with five rebounds and seven assists, while Ball scored 15 points with two rebounds and 10 assists. Both players struggled to shoot well from the floor, but had great help from their supporting casts. Unfortunately for the Lakers, Kyle Kuzma was not part of that supporting cast as he was out with an injury.

The Lakers will travel to the Mile High City to take on the Denver Nuggets on Saturday for their next game. Before we get to that though, let’s take a look at some takeaways. Although the team did lose, they played one of their better games of the season as evident by pushing the Warriors to OT. Due to that, we will look at three positive takeaways from the loss.
