Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Reasons Why Julius Randle Should Be A Starter
It Will Likely Enhance His Overall Trade Value
At the time being, it is peculiar to imagine Julius Randle in another uniform. The notion remains peculiar even if the overpaid Luol Deng was included in a swap.
A formidable case could be made that Randle has been the Lakers best player through 23 contests. The only other player that could possibly be imparted with team honors is Kuzma.
Needless to say, Julius has not let being a secondary option affect him for the vast majority of the year. Granted he is not even playing 22 minutes an evening, he is doing tremendous work on both sides of the hardwood.
Thus, while it is reasonable to assume Clarkson is in the Sixth Man of the Year conversation, Randle’s name should be there as well. To say otherwise would be absurd.
Earlier Randle’s per 36 minutes stats were exhibited. The fact that he could be a 20/10 plus guy is an exciting one to say the least. Bearing that in mind, giving him a chance in a starting role should not require too much deliberation.
In conjunction with this, it should not take too much thought because Randle may not be in the City of Angels next year. He and the team never reached an agreement in the offseason. Due to this speculation, Randle getting more minutes could give outside teams a better idea of what his true potential is. It would make the forward/center much more marketable.
Ergo, the Los Angeles Lakers would possibly get a higher quality piece in return if trade negotiations ensue. It is a win-win situation more or less.

Unfortunately, if this did unfold, yes, Nance Jr. would take a hit in the rotation. It seems wholeheartedly unfair owing to the hustle Larry brings to the table so frequently. Notwithstanding the veracity of that remark, the storied franchise does need to attach weight to the future of their team.
It is plain and simple that this is likely Randle’s last year in a Lakers jersey. So it is sensible to think that if his minutes are maximized, they could ideally accrue something worthwhile in return when trades are scrutinized.
The opportunity is there—that is for sure. Whether the Lakers answer the door or not is another can of worms.
