Check out our awards for the Los Angeles Lakers through the first quarter of the 2017-18 season.

The Los Angeles Lakers are through just over a quarter of the 2017-18 season. The Lakers currently have a record of 8-15 as they have fallen on tough times in recent weeks. Los Angeles is currently riding a five-game losing streak and has lost 10 of their last 13 games.

Luke Walton has been trying to find a rotation and combinations that work, and there has been a lot of tinkering. The Lakers have also dealt with a few injuries which have forced changes to be made.

As a result, the Lakers have constantly been changing their rotation and lineups. Eventually, Walton will have to settle on a group to stick with so that the young team can get some cohesion and chemistry built.

Despite the question marks and inconsistencies, there has been a lot to like thus far from the Lakers this season.

More from Lakers News

They have improved defensively, going from one of the worst in the NBA during the 2016-17 season to one of the best this season. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brook Lopez and Andrew Bogut have helped change the culture defensively along with veteran holdover Corey Brewer.

Surprisingly, the offensive side of the ball has been where the Lakers are struggling. Despite the overall team struggles, some players have displayed great offensive play, such as Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma.

Through the first 23 games of the season, it would be fair to say that some people have stuck out more than others. Some of them are for good reasons, others for poor reasons. We will recognize those players. Check out our slideshow of the first quarter awards for the Lakers!
