Los Angeles Lakers: 3 takeaways from loss against the Golden State Warriors
By Zain Danani
The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves unable to end the Golden State Warriors’ win streak as they lose 106-113.
After ending the Houston Rockets‘ win streak on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Lakers look to do the same last night. Unfortunately, the team came up short as the Golden State Warriors won in a close fought battle.
The Lakers headed into the matchup in the best possible state we have seen all season. Although Brook Lopez was sidelined due to an ankle injury, the team was coming off its best win of the season. They had just beaten the top team in the Western Conference in which Kyle Kuzma scored a career-high 38 points. Additionally, Lonzo Ball scored in double-digits in his fourth consecutive game.
The Warriors were also playing perfect basketball as the team was riding on a 10-game win streak. With Stephen Curry also sidelined with an ankle injury, Kevin Durant had become the primary scorer and leader for the team. Over their win streak, Durant had been stellar with averages of 29 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.3 assists.
For the third time this season the Lakers ended up losing to the Warriors. Fortunately, however, all three matchups have been close games. Two of these have gone into overtime and all three have been single-digit losses. Last night the team lost by seven in regulation, but their play against the defending champs encourages hope for the future.
The Lakers host the Portland Trailblazers tonight, but before we get to that game let’s take a look at some takeaways.
