The Los Angeles Lakers continue their woeful December as they lose to the Portland Trail Blazers 95-92.

After losing to the Golden State Warriors by seven on Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers followed it up with another close loss to the Portland Trailblazers. The matchup should have been an easy win for the Lakers as Blazers’ All-Star, Damian Lillard, was sidelined with a hamstring strain.

The Lakers headed into the matchup with high hopes for a win. After completing their toughest stretch of their schedule – four straight games against top-five teams – the team looked to start off their home stand with a win.

Similar to the Lakers, the Blazers were in need of a desperate win. The team headed into the game with a three-game losing streak. Moreover, the team had an awful record of 3-7 for the month of December. With their losses building up, Rip City also found themselves slowly slipping out of the playoff picture.

The game was a close one, but the Lakers were unable to come out on top. Surprisingly, the stars of the night were not stars at all. Moe Harkless and Shabazz Napier led the way for the Blazers and were the game’s leading scorers. As for the Lakers, their highest scorers came off the bench – Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle.

The Lakers will host the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight, but before we get to that game let’s take a look at a few takeaways.
