With the All-Star Game being in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Lakers rookie Kyle Kuzma would like to perform in the 3-point contest.
As the NBA season approaches the new year for the Los Angeles Lakers, the NBA All-Star Break is right around the corner. This season, the festivities will be in Los Angeles, and it will certainly be a fun time for everyone involved.
While getting a player in the actual All-Star Game is extremely unlikely for the Lakers, they should be well-represented throughout the weekend. Generally, players from the host city are in the various contests, as local fans get a chance to root for their favorite players from the team.
Lakers rookie Kyle Kuzma will almost certainly be playing in the Rising Stars game on Friday night, but he also hopes to be in the 3-point shootout on Saturday night. Recently, Kuzma spoke with Harrison Faigen of LakersNation.com about potentially getting a chance to be in the 3-point contest. Here’s what Kuzma had to say.
"“I’m a pretty good shooter. I’ve been shooting it really well, consistently. That would definitely be cool, to be in the 3-point (competition), in L.A,” Kuzma said."
Despite the Lakers being one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the league, Kuzma has performed well from behind the arc. So far this season, Kuzma is shooting 38.4 percent from the field.
Even though Kuzma has shot the ball well from beyond the arc for most of the season, he has struggled recently. In his last two games, Kuzma as combined to shoot just 2-for-18 from the field.

Since Kuzma has quickly become a fan-favorite in Los Angeles, it would be good to see him involved on Saturday in addition to the Rising Stars Game. With Larry Nance Jr. being a potential contestant in the dunk contest, Kuzma would make sense as a participant in the 3-point shootout. Kuzma has been able to earn some impressive accolades already as a rookie, and adding a 3-point shootout trophy to that would be great for the Lakers’ young star.
