The Los Angeles Lakers extend their winning streak to two as they beat the Sacramento Kings 99-86.

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Sacramento Kings last night in a primetime rookie matchup. Ever since they dueled in the 2017 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, people have constantly debated who is the better player – Lonzo Ball or De’Aaron Fox.

In their Sweet 16 matchup, Fox put on a show while Zo disappointed greatly. De’Aaron scored a college career-high 39 points and added four assists while shooting 65 percent from the floor. Contrarily, Ball only scored 10 points along with eight assists while he shot 40 percent from the floor.

Their next battles were supposed to be in the Summer League and preseason, but Lonzo was out both times due to injury – some still believe he was avoiding Fox. On November 22, 2017, however, the two finally faced off.

Both rookies displayed glimpses of their potential and the crowd was pleased with what they saw. Fox finished the game with 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists while shooting 45.5 percent. For L.A., Ball had 11 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field and 60 percent from deep. The Kings ended up winning the game by 11, but Ball individually outperformed Fox.

In last night’s matchup, the individual battle did not live up to its hype but Lonzo won the game. With that, their NBA head-to-head record is now 1-1.

The Lakers next game will be on Thursday when they host the San Antonio Spurs. Before we get to that game, however, let’s take a look at a few takeaways from last night’s game.
