Turnovers

For the first time this season, the turnovers’ takeaway is a positive! Last night the team finally seemed to figure out their turnover issue and used it to their advantage.

Heading into the game, the Lakers averaged 16.8 turnovers per game – the second-highest average in the league. Moreover, the team averaged 20 turnovers per game over their last three games – the highest average in the league.

Contrarily, the Spurs averaged 13.9 turnovers per game – the seventh-lowest rate in the league. Their rate stayed pretty much the same over their last three games at 13.7 turnovers per game – still the seventh-lowest rate in the league.

Last night, however, the tables were turned. L.A. finished the night with 16 turnovers, while San Antonio ended with 21. Additionally, the Lakers had an outstanding 15 steals against the Spurs pass-filled offense. The turnovers helped the Lakers, as the team ended the game with more points off turnovers, fast break points, and a win.

Hopefully the team can keep up its defense and offensive efficiency to increase the win streak to four on Saturday.
