After back-to-back losses, the Lonzo-less Lakers get a double-digit win over the Indiana Pacers, 99-86.

The Los Angeles Lakers played against the Indiana Pacers last night. The matchup was nothing special as the Pacers are a lower playoff seed – seventh – in the Eastern Conference, while the Lakers linger near the bottom of the Western Conference.

In a matchup that was expected to be an easy win for the Pacers, L.A. ended up winning the matchup and by double-digits. The team was led by Jordan Clarkson as he scored 33 points. As for Indiana, Victor Oladipo led the way with 25 points.

The most impressive part of the Lakers’ win, however, was that they won without Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram. Although this is great for the team, it is even better for Zo.

With his father – Lavar – constantly making outlandish remarks, it has been tough for the rookie to gain an appreciation for his game. NBA fans and analysts tend to focus on Lonzo’s poor shooting numbers as he shoots 35.6 percent from the floor. Now, however, there is another stat that Ball can use to his defense – 1-8.

Last night’s win was the first time the team won without Ball and the team is now 1-8 without him. This stats displays Zo’s effect on the floor. Although his shooting may not be as great as fans had hoped, his ability to do everything else is a huge advantage and leads to more wins.

The Lakers next game will be tomorrow afternoon as they host the New York Knicks. Before that game, however, let’s look at some takeaways from yesterday’s win.
