Los Angeles Lakers on right track, must stay the course
The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be heading on the right track, and now must build momentum and stay on course.
The Los Angeles Lakers have had an interesting first half of their 2017-18 season. Youth and inexperience are some of many factors in their 29 losses. That same inexperience is directly associated to their youth, but, it’s that same youth that projects a sense of fearlessness.
Almost a month into 2018 and it feels like a lot has happened for these young Lakers. The Lakers braved a tough, yet anticipated grueling December schedule, going 3-11. A majority of those losses have come at home, which has led to a sub .500 record at the STAPLES Center with their only wins during that stretch coming on the road.
Then there was LaVar Ball doing what he does best, keeping his mouth open as wide as humanly possible 24/7. The elder Ball claimed that Luke Walton, who has coached this Lakers team to their best 47 game stretch in four years, lost the locker room.
These words came after the Lakers endured a nine-game losing streak, and included persistent injuries to Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram. The Lakers’ shortcomings began to surround the team, especially talk of a 0-8 record with Lonzo out of the lineup. These rumblings seemed to have calmed down during this three-game win streak.
Sure, having controlling owner Jeanie Buss vouch for you publicly helps, but nothing halts the frustration of losing more than winning. The Lakers have gone 7-2 since their 9-game losing streak and the ebbs and flows of this seesaw season are trending upward.
