Lakers Rumors: Corey Brewer likely to have contract bought out
By Nick Ziegler
Recent Lakers rumors are that the team and Corey Brewer are working towards a buyout to allow Brewer to try and sign with a playoff team.
With the season coming to an end, recent Lakers rumors are that the team is working on a buyout with veteran swingman, Corey Brewer.
Since the All-Star break, the Los Angeles Lakers are winners of three straight games. Even though they are playing good basketball over the past few months, the playoffs are very unlikely for them unless they go on a ridiculous run.
Even though the Lakers don’t have many veterans on the team, one of them is Corey Brewer. Brewer was acquired last season from the Houston Rockets in part of the deal that sent Lou Williams to Houston.
For most of his career, Brewer has been a good bench player, as he also gives it his all when he is on the court. Since the Lakers are trying to get as many minutes as they can for their young core, minutes have been hard to come by for Brewer.
This season, Brewer is averaging just 12.9 minutes per game, and he hasn’t played a minute in two of the last five games. With the return of Lonzo Ball, the Lakers have their young core back to full health, and that has taken away minutes from Brewer.
According to Marc Stein, Brewer and the Lakers are working on a buyout that will allow him to sign elsewhere.
The timetable is a bit small to get Brewer his buyout, as he would need to have it done by March 1st in order to sign with a playoff team.
Even though Brewer didn’t play a ton for the Lakers, he was recently a rotation player on a Houston Rockets team that made the postseason.

Brewer can offer a team the ability to bring a spark off the bench with his defensive prowess. Also, he is quite good in transition when the pace is fast. We will have to wait and see, but it would appear like a buyout for Brewer is likely coming.
