With Corey Brewer and the Los Angeles Lakers agreeing to a buyout, recent Lakers rumors are that the Oklahoma City Thunder could be interested.
Recent Lakers rumors were that the team and Corey Brewer were working on a buyout. Soon after, the two sides decided to part ways. It was important for the two sides to reach an agreement before March 1st, otherwise, Brewer wouldn’t be eligible for the playoffs.
This season, Brewer hasn’t been a huge factor for the Lakers, as they have tried to grow their young core. Brewer averaged 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in 12.9 minutes for the Lakers this season.
Recently, Brewer has barely played for the Lakers, as the emergence of Josh Hart has really taken away minutes from him. In two of the last five games, Brewer hasn’t played for the Lakers, and the veteran certainly wants to be on a winning team if he isn’t going to be playing much.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Oklahoma City Thunder will be interested in Brewer.
Since his former coach, Billy Donovan is the coach in Oklahoma City, Brewer certainly makes sense for the Thunder. Due to Andre Roberson being out, Brewer can provide the Thunder with a wing player that can play some defense.
Even though his role likely wouldn’t be huge on the Thunder, he can provide them with some needed depth on the wing.
For the Lakers, they will be losing a veteran presence, but getting minutes for players like Hart is very important at this point in the season. Since the Lakers likely won’t be a playoff team this season, having their young players playing as much as possible is important for the development for next season.

As a hard worker and a good defensive player, Brewer should be able to land with a contender. As of now, the Thunder seem like the most likely option.
