Recently acquired Isaiah Thomas doesn’t believe that Lonzo Ball of the Los Angeles Lakers needs to change his jump shot.

One of the most talked about things for the Los Angeles Lakers this season has been the play of rookie point guard Lonzo Ball. Due to some wild expectations, Ball has had a target on his back before he even stepped on the court.

Even though he has been sidelined with injuries a bit this season, Ball has shown a lot of promise as a rookie. Since Ball is averaging 10-7-7 as a rookie, the ceiling is certainly high for him. However, one of the weaknesses for Ball has been his shooting.

To start the season, Ball really struggled with his shot, and people jumped the gun and were labeling him a bust. However, Ball was a good shooter at UCLA and the slump was expected to end.

With one of the strangest looking shots of all-time, many believed that Ball would have to change his shot in order to become a good shooting. However, Ball has been shooting the basketball much better since his early struggles.

Recently, his new teammates Isaiah Thomas talked about Lonzo’s shot and whether or not he should change it. Here’s what he said via Bill Oram of the Southern California News Group.

"“It’s ugly as hell,” Thomas said. “It’s an ugly shot, but he’s been successful with it his whole life, so you get to the highest level, there is no need to change it.”"

Since returning from his MCL sprain, Ball has been shooting the basketball very well, especially from three-point range. In his first game back against the Dallas Mavericks, Ball went 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. After resting against the Kings, Ball picked up right where he left off with a perfect 3-for-3 night from beyond the arc against the Hawks.

In December, January, and February, Ball has been shooting it much better, as he certainly looks like he has his confidence back with his shot. Thomas certainly makes a great point, that there is no reason for Ball to change what got him to the NBA this early in his career. As the season goes on, Ball will hopefully continue to shoot the basketball well.
