Los Angeles Lakers: 6 takeaways from four-game road trip
Takeaway No. 5: Injuries Occur
Injuries have unfortunately been a thorn in the side for the Lakers throughout the season. Lonzo Ball was sidelined for 15 games prior to the All-Star break but returned after the break. His return helped set the Lakers lineup and put them at full strength. However, that didn’t last too long.
Josh Hart was the first to go down. He suffered a fracture to his left hand in practice on Tuesday and will be sidelined for multiple weeks. His loss is a big one for the Lakers, as he started every game in February and was producing. There is a chance we don’t see Hart again this season.
Hart wasn’t the only player to go down. In the first game without Hart, the Lakers also lost small forward Brandon Ingram. Ingram suffered a strained hip flexor, which caused him to miss the game against the Spurs. Ingram is listed as day-to-day, and we should see him back sooner than later.
Both players were performing well before going down. With them sidelined, other players will have to step up. Once again, the rotation will have to be adjusted, but the Lakers have overcome injuries throughout the season. Hopefully, they can do it once again in the coming games.
