Three-Point Shooting

In their matchup, the key for L.A.’s downfall was three-point shooting. The poor perimeter shooting comes with no surprise as the team has shot 34.6 percent on the season – the third worst mark in the league. Contrarily, the Pistons shoot 36.9 percent from deep – the eighth best rate in the league.

Last night the Lakers shot a putrid 26.1 percent from deep. Moreover, they only made six triples – their third fewest in a game in 2018. The Pistons shot a respectable 39.4 percent from outside and connected on 13 threes.

Even more embarrassing for the Lakers was their bench’s perimeter shooting. They combined for zero made triples on only two attempts. As for the Pistons’ bench, they combined for seven triples on 17 attempts.

To L.A.’s disadvantage, they were still playing without Brandon Ingram. Regardless of the situation, however, the team must better their three-point shooting. If not this season, it will come back to haunt them next season.
