Los Angeles Lakers: 5 NBA prospects to watch in 2018 Final Four
By Nick Ziegler
– Jalen Brunson
One of the upperclassman stars for Villanova this season has been point guard Jalen Brunson. As Arguably the best college player in the country this season, Brunson has had a magnificent junior season.
As a bit of an undersized guard, Brunson’s draft stock is a tricky one to judge. Mock drafts have Brunson going anywhere from the late first round into the second round. As a junior, there is no guarantee that Brunson will be leaving Villanova after this season. Depending on the outcome of the Final Four, Brunson could look to repeat as a National Champion.
This season, Brunson has averaged 19.2 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game. While is listed at 6’3”, he excels in the post for a guard. Couple Brunson’s ability to play in the post with his ability to shoot 3-pointers, he makes for a unique and talented offensive weapon.
While the Lakers did draft a point guard in Lonzo Ball last season, they could certainly use another guard off the bench, or even to play alongside Ball like Jordan Clarkson and Isaiah Thomas have done this season. If Brunson decides to come out early, the Lakers could certainly be in his projected draft range as of now.
