Los Angeles Lakers: Why Julius Randle earned a contract extension
Los Angeles Lakers power forward Julius Randle has earned a contract extension from the team.
This upcoming summer will be a huge one for the Los Angeles Lakers. With multiple big-name free agents hitting the market the Lakers are hoping to land one of them.
Besides the big names such as LeBron James and Paul George, the Lakers have plenty of free agents of their own. One of those key free agents for the Lakers is Julius Randle.
In the best season of his career, he’s made it hard for the team to not offer him another contract. What he brings to the team will be missed if they don’t resign him.
Toughness
One of the best attributes Randle has is his toughness. The physicality and power he brings to the game are what the Lakers would miss the most.

Before the season started one of the things he did this offseason was work on his body. Randle got into better shape and Laker Nation could tell he improved his game right away. This season he’s averaging a career-high 16 points a game and eight rebounds a game.
Before the Lakers decide to move on or not they need to realize just how much of his toughness they’d miss in the future.
Consistency
One of the keys to being successful in the NBA is being consistent. That being defensively guarding the best player or offensively being a leading scorer. Randle has arguably been the most consistent player for the Lakers this season.
He’s not only leading the team in points and rebounds per game but also in field goal percentage. His ability to be consistent in an up and down season is huge. Randle’s given the Lakers plenty to think about this season before they let him walk for nothing.
