Steps 4-6

4. The Lakers have had a lottery pick the last four years. Randle was chosen in 2014, D’Angelo Russell in ’15, Ingram two years ago, and Ball this year. This time around, Magic and Rob will be picking 25th and 44th, but still hope to get a couple of productive players.

5. Johnson and Pelinka might seek some veteran free agents, either on a big one-year deal or a not-too-costly multi-year contract. That’s not always easy to accomplish, as they discovered last year when they pursued a few players, like George Hill, who ended up signing more lucrative contracts elsewhere.

6. Magic and Rob might fill up at least part of the bench with players such as Travis Wear, Alex Caruso, Gary Payton II and crowd favorite Andre Ingram, who all split time between the G League South Bay Lakers and the parent team this year. Most if not all will be invited to play in the summer league, and likely to fall training camp.
