Rookie of the Year: Kyle Kuzma

2nd: Lonzo Ball 3rd: Josh Hart

Going into the year everyone would have definitely picked Lonzo Ball to be the team’s Rookie of the Year, as some experts even had Lonzo as the league’s ROTY. Some could have predicted Lonzo’s rough season that included multiple injuries and some terrible shooting, but none could have predicted Kyle Kuzma’s ascension as one of the Lakers’ best scorers.

In fact, Kuzma’s 2017-18 stats put him in some pretty good company as far as Lakers rookie stats go. Kuzma ended his rookie campaign with the 5th most points in Lakers rookie history. The four names in front of him are Magic Johnson, Jerry West, George Mikan, and Elgin Baylor. That is some great company to be mentioned with. He also became the first NBA rookie ever with 1,000 points, 400 rebounds and 130 made 3-pointers.

Lonzo does get 2nd for his all-around impact he had as a point guard and Josh Hart comes in 3rd as he seems to be a great bench player to have for years to come.
