Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka may be ecstatic that the team is in the conversation for LeBron James next and probably final stop, but it’s a bad idea to sign him.
Los Angeles Lakers fans love their GOAT, Kobe Bryant. However, maybe investing so much in the veteran at or towards the end of his NBA career proved disastrous.
Injury-plagued, the Lakers front office of Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss paired Bryant up with various other veterans. Paying that exorbitant amount of money proved fruitless. Begging Dwight Howard to stay and LaMarcus Aldridge to consider the Lakers was downright embarrassing.
Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka have made some almost magician-like moves this season to free cap space for major stars to join the team, sacrificing Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson to Bron Bron’s Cavs for a Championship run.
So many names have been floated on social media it can make your head spin, but two names are mentioned more than others; Paul George and LeBron James. Both have planted some roots investing in Los Angeles real estate.

The Lakers rumor-ville has never been more active or rampant than it is now with free-agency coming up. The draft isn’t even really talked about despite the Lakers still having draft picks they can use to supplement the team. They have a first-round draft pick from Cleveland (2/8/2018), a second-round draft pick from Denver. They also have some great G-League talent that showed they could play at the end of the season in Alex Caruso, Gary Payton II and Thomas Bryant who dominated in the G-League.
Throw Andre Ingram in there as a bench player and go-to 3-point shooter, and we may have a team like the Philadelphia 76rs on our hands. The 76ers are doing a great job in the playoffs this season so far. It took glue guys like T.J. McConnell and J.J. Redick to help them along, as well as dominating draft picks in Ben Simmons and Joel Embid. To me, the Lakers are forming a team that can compete with a young crew much like Philadelphia.
However, adding such a dominant personality and NBA star such as LeBron James just isn’t what the Lakers need and there are at least three reasons why.
