The Los Angeles Lakers potential offseason plan is being aided by the NBA Playoffs.
So far, the playoffs are boding well for the Los Angeles Lakers and their offseason master plan. Primarily because their two main targets in free agency, LeBron James and Paul George’s teams are having trouble against the midlevel competition.
It is no secret that the Lakers are trying to sign two max free agents this offseason, and the odds of them doing that is much greater if George or James gets bumped in round one. Their playoff fate will not be the only factor in determining their free agency decision, but it could definitely sway their decision.
The Cavaliers’ playoff struggles
At the start of the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers were the favorites to coast through the Eastern Conference and go to their fifth straight finals. Yet, at this point in the season, that prediction looks somewhat far-fetched.
The Indiana Pacers have had the Cavs on the ropes the entire first round, and they are a team with little postseason experience. The Pacers won game one and three to take control of the series. Then the Cavs won Game 4, and LeBron had to block a shot and hit a 3-pointer in crunch time to win a crucial Game 5.
