With the NBA Playoffs in full swing, recent Lakers rumors have been about their chances to sign LeBron James this offseason.
As the offseason rolls on for the Los Angeles Lakers, recent Lakers rumors have been about who they will be trying to sign in free agency. Of the three top projected free agents, the Lakers appear like they will be focusing their efforts on signing LeBron James and Paul George.
With George being eliminated from the playoffs already, that has to help the chances of him leaving Oklahoma City and possibly joining the Lakers. However, James is still going strong in the Eastern Conference.
After suffering a scare in the first round against the Indiana Pacers, James and the Cavaliers have been able to win the first three games of the series. Considering how James and the Cavaliers were pushed to the limit by the Pacers, many thought that Raptors would be able to finally take down the King. However, that has not been the case.
Recently, Mark Heisler of the Southern California News Group reported that the Lakers were still the favorites to sign James this summer. Here’s what he had to say.
"The Lakers, consensus favorites in the LeBron Derby with their two maximum salary slots, needed a bunch of things to go right to get to this position."
Seeing how well James played this season and how he is performing in the playoffs, teams will be lining up with their best-recruiting pitches to try and sign him. It is likely going to take a lot of convince James to leave Cleveland again, but anything is possible.
Depending on how the Cavaliers do in the postseason could have a big impact on James’ decision to leave. With the ability for the Lakers to sign a max free agent like James, they will certainly be going after him along with every other team that has cap space.
