3. Keep LaVar quiet

I’m going to be honest here, I have kind of always liked Lavar Ball especially when he first hit the scene last year with his proclamations about his son being better than Steph Curry and his insistence on having his son play for the Lakers. I didn’t necessarily agree with all of the things the head of the Ball Family had to say, but I gave the man a break because I thought it was just all in good fun.

Then the controversy started. First it started with the comments about how the team doesn’t want to play for Luke Walton. Then it escalated with him proclaiming that his sons were a package deal and if the Lakers did not sign his two younger boys LiAngelo and LaMelo, then he would pull Lonzo Ball off of the Lakers.

It was all fun and games until Lavar Ball started blasting these comments into the wild, and whether or not the Lakers choose to admit it, it probably caused a little bit of disturbance in the locker room and in the front office. Whether or not these comments come to fruition, Lonzo must find a way to separate LaVar Ball from the organization and eliminate the risk of LaVar becoming a distraction to the big picture which is getting back to the playoffs.

The point is, Magic Johnson’s comments about Lonzo this summer are definitely true and if he can manage to check these things off of his list he will be one step closer to leading this team back to where they need to be.
