Recently, Bleacher Report ranked the top destinations for free agents this offseason. Where did the Los Angeles Lakers land on their list?
This offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers have positioned themselves very nicely to attempt to lure free agents to L.A. Even though the team has struggled since the end of Kobe Bryant’s career, they have been able to draft well and build a solid young core of talent.
While this core is still very young, they have shown what they might be capable of becoming. With Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Josh Hart, the Lakers have a good thing going, and all four of them could be very successful players in the NBA.
In addition to this solid young core, the Lakers have hopes of landing two max free agents this offseason. With players like LeBron James and Paul George on the market, the Lakers are hoping to land at least one, and possibly both of them.
Recently, Bleacher Report ranked the top potential destinations for free agents this offseason. For the Lakers, they came in ranked second in the NBA.
Seeing the Lakers ranked this high should come as no surprise. With the beautiful weather, Hollywood, and legacy of the franchise, the Lakers have always been a desirable destination for free agents. However, what separates this season from others for the Lakers in trying to pursue free agents is that they have talent already on the team to offer superstars.
Coming in first on the list, and arguably the Lakers’ main competition for landing a max player is the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers, like the Lakers, have some great young talent in Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. However, they are a bit more seasoned right now, as shown by the 76ers making the playoffs this season. With the ability to sign a max player and join two of the best young players in the NBA, Philadelphia is also a great destination.
