No. 3: LaVar Ball

We haven’t really heard much from Lavar Ball lately, but that is not to say that he has not had his time in the limelight during the season.

Going into the season people were wondering whether or not Lavar Ball’s outlandish comments were going to continue into the season and possibly affect his son Lonzo. From appearances on ESPN’s First Take to Skip VS Shannon: Undisputed, the thought was that Lavar would continue to praise his son while issuing indirect challenges to Lonzo Ball’s future competitors.

However, once the losing streak for the Lakers started the praise turned into criticism. Lavar Ball would go on to insinuate that head coach Luke Walton has lost the team and that the players do not want to play for him.

The Los Angeles Lakers were already going through a rough time during this losing streak and these comments by Lavar Ball were not helping things one bit. In one game against the Golden State Warriors, Lavar Ball even blamed forward Julius Randle for not passing the ball to Lonzo for a potential layup late in the game.

Obviously, no one in the world is above criticism and players and coaches for NBA teams are no exception. There are people every day who say things about players and coaches that are 10 times worse than anything Lavar Ball has said.

However, when you have the father of your No. 2 overall draft pick criticizing the team, even though Lavar Ball promised to take a step back once Lonzo was drafted, that can’t be good for any team especially right in the middle of a nine-game losing streak
