With the NBA Combine ongoing, the Los Angeles Lakers have recently interviewed Villanova star Donte DiVincenzo.

Prior to the NBA Trade Deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers were without a first-round pick. However, a big trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers resulted in them acquiring the Cavs’ first-round pick in addition to the ability to create enough cap space for two max players.

Now that the Lakers have a first-round pick, they will be looking to add another talented young player to their impressive core. In recent years, the Lakers have drafted extremely well, and we can look back to as recent as last year to see what type of talent can be found at the end of the first round.

Last season, the Lakers were able to take Kyle Kuzma with the 27th overall pick, and they then selected Josh Hart with the 30th overall pick. Kuzma looks like he has star potential and Josh Hart can be a valuable player in the rotation for years to come.

With the 25th pick, the Lakers will have a lot of players to scout, as things can be wild after the first 10 picks or so. Recently, the Lakers started off some of their interviews by interviewing Hart’s college teammate, Donte DiVincenzo.

On a loaded Villanova team, DiVincenzo was able to average 13.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.5 in just under 30 minutes per game. However, in San Antonio, DiVincenzo looked like the best player on the court against Michigan, as he totaled 31 points.

As an athletic shooting guard, DiVincenzo would certainly fill some needs for the Lakers. One of their glaring weaknesses this season was shooting from beyond the arc. With Villanova last season, DiVincenzo shot just over 40 percent from deep, and would likely fit in well with the Lakers.

While we are still very early in the draft process, DiVincenzo will be a name to keep an eye on for the Lakers.
