Nevada F, Jordan Caroline

Jordan Caroline is the third Nevada prospect that the Lakers are working out. His teammates, twins Caleb and Cody Martin, took part in the second and third workouts the Lakers hosted. Now, Caroline will be getting his chance to showcase his talents for the purple and gold.

Caroline began his collegiate career at Southern Illinois before transferring to Nevada. He spent the last two seasons with the Wolfpack and put up some big numbers. In two seasons with Nevada, Caroline averaged 16.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.9 steals per game.

Caroline isn’t a great shooter, knocking down 33 percent of his 3-point attempts and 64.9 percent of his free throws at Nevada. He did make 70.9 percent from the line this past season, a passable number, especially when you get to the line as much as Caroline did.

His skill set is similar to that of Julius Randle. They are both big bodied, athletic players that are outstanding rebounders and solid playmakers. Also like Randle at the beginning of his career, Caroline needs to get a little more focused defensively to have an impact on that end of the court.

However, Caroline is a little smaller than Randle, being measured two inches shorter and 15 pounds lighter. They have similar skill sets though, and Caroline could be someone the Lakers look at as a Randle replacement should he not return.

Being an athlete is in Caroline’s blood. His father is NFL All-Pro defensive lineman, Simeon Rice.
