Recent Lakers rumors are that the team did not make a promise to Mitchell Robinson or any other prospect in the 2018 NBA Draft.

As we get closer to the 2018 NBA Draft, there will certainly be plenty of Lakers rumors about who the team will be selecting with the pick. Recently, the Lakers were linked to Mitchell Robinson.

Robinson is one of many prospects that the Lakers have been interviewing and scouting, as they do their due diligence in the draft process.

According to some reports, the Lakers made a promise to Robinson that they would take him if he was available when they were on the clock at 25. However, Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report reported that the Lakers have not made a promise to Mitchell.

Seeing the Lakers reportedly make a promise to Robinson this early in the draft process was a bit surprising to hear. With a lot of time before the draft still plenty of things could change, and the Lakers making a commitment to Robinson this early seems a bit odd.

In addition to this being a very early promise, Robinson is also a real mystery prospect as of now. Robinson never played a minute at Western Kentucky and he didn’t participate in any of the NBA Combine workouts.

Considering how the Lakers drafted last year late in the first round, the selection of Robinson would have been going with an opposite mindset. Both Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart had a good amount of college experience, and that certainly helped them translate into the NBA rather easily.

With a lot of time between now and the NBA Draft, the Lakers will continue to hold workouts and interviews for players. While Robinson could certainly be an option for them at 25, they will likely continue to scout other prospects to hopefully continue their recent stretch of strong drafts.
