On Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers will be holding a pre-draft workout with Duke guard Grayson Allen.

With one pick in the first round and one pick in the second round, the Los Angeles Lakers have been extremely active in their pre-draft process. For the past few seasons, the Lakers have drafted well, and a lot of credit has to go to how they have scouted players.

The hard work that the Lakers have put into scouting the past few years has resulted in them having one of the best young cores in the NBA. With another first round pick this season, the Lakers will be looking to add another player into that young core.

As shown last year, the Lakers were able to add two very talented players late in the first round, as they drafted Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart. While they might not be able to add a player like Kuzma with the 25th pick, they will have a chance to land a potential rotation player.

According to Bill Oram, the Lakers will be continuing their pre-draft workouts on Friday, and one player that they will be hosting is Grayson Allen from Duke.

After a nice career at Duke, Allen is an interesting prospect to monitor. He did quite well at the NBA Combine, and he was at times the best player on some very good Duke teams. In his senior season, Allen averaged 15.5 points and 4.6 assists per game. With a lot of talented young freshman around him, Allen did a good job getting everyone involved.

For the Lakers, Allen would fit a need as a bit of a combo guard. The Lakers can certainly use an upgrade at the guard position over Tyler Ennis, and Allen would be that. In addition to being a good combo guard, Allen is also a pretty solid shooter from beyond the arc. In four years at Duke, Allen shot 38 percent from three-point range.

As of now, Allen is a boarderline first-round pick, which could make him a bit of a stretch for the Lakers. However, a good workout with the team could result in the Lakers moving him up on their board.
