Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Mitchell Robinson being seriously considered in 2018 NBA Draft

1. Mitchell Robinson

One of the more interesting and unproven prospects that the Lakers have been linked to during the pre-draft process is Mitchell Robinson. He is the quintessential boom or bust prospect because he decided to sit out a year to prepare for the NBA instead of playing in college.

He was a big-time recruit coming out of high school and he committed to play for Western Kentucky, but he never played a minute for them.

Now heading into this year’s draft it is hard to tell where Robinson will land. His mixture of size, athletic ability, and the ability to shoot the three makes him a great fit for what the Lakers are looking for in their center of the future.

In his pre-draft workout with the team, Robinson was throwing down lobs like it was nothing and showed he had NBA 3-point range.

If Robinson went to college and had a solid season, he would for sure be in the lottery conversation. That is why if he slips into later portion of the first-round, he could be a steal for the Lakers at the 25th spot.

If the Lakers do decide to draft a center with one of their draft picks, Robinson could be the prospect with the highest ceiling that is available to him. Yet they could be better off going with one of the more experienced players that were listed before. Either way, it would be smart for the Lakers to add center depth with one of their picks this summer.
