One of the free agents for the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason is Isaiah Thomas. Recently, he said he would be open to a reunion with DeMarcus Cousins.

The Los Angeles Lakers were able to acquire Isaiah Thomas in a deadline deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite being an MVP candidate for the Boston Celtics in the 2016-17 season, he was traded by them in a package for Kyrie Irving in the offseason.

While dealing with his recovery from hip surgery, Thomas missed a lot of time to start the season with the Cavaliers. As the team was struggling, Thomas did come back, but clearly wasn’t 100 percent.

As the Cavaliers reshaped their roster, Thomas was sent to the Lakers as part of a package that brought back Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. With the Lakers, Thomas didn’t get a chance to play a whole lot, as his hip ended up needing another surgery.

Heading into the offseason, Thomas will be a free agent and likely won’t get that big deal he sought when he was coming off a great season in Boston. While Thomas did have some good moments for the Lakers, he likely won’t be a priority for them.

Recently, Thomas was asked on Twitter if he would like to reunite with a fellow free agent and former teammate, DeMarcus Cousins. Thomas seemed all for it.

Thomas and Cousins played together with the Sacramento Kings, but didn’t have the team success that Thomas and Cousins had after they left. Like Thomas, Cousins is coming off a surgery and that could impact his contract.

While Cousins has a better chance of getting a big deal than Thomas does at this point, they are both intriguing free agents. If a team was willing to take the risk on two players coming off surgery, they could be getting two All-Stars at a discounted price. When free agency starts we will have to wait and see what the interest for Thomas is, but when healthy, he could be a great addition for a team.
