1. Jevon Carter, PG, West Virginia

Jevon Carter was a heck of a player while at West Virginia and was a key cog in Bob Huggins system. Carter stayed for all four years and improved his game every year that he was there.

Carter averaged 17.3 points, just about four rebounds, and 6.6 assists a game during his senior season. Carter is a great leader that led both vocally and by example. That is the type of players that the Lakers seem to draft since Magic Johnson took over the player personnel department.

Lonzo Ball was the leader of UCLA while Kyle Kuzma was the leader of Utah and Josh Hart was the leader of Villanova at the time.

Getting back to Carter’s game, he can take over a game when necessary. He has a reliable jumper, can shoot the three and can get other guys involved.

Carter is also a hound on the defensive side of the ball. He can lock up other guards and make them uncomfortable during games. He has a chance to be a solid two-way player if he makes it in the league.

Carter’s main concern is height as he is only 6’1″. Scouts have concerns that he can’t guard some of the bigger guards in the NBA today. The fact that he can only play the point guard position, not only from his height but struggles without the ball as well.

There have been players that are shorter than him that go onto great careers, however. So, Carter could be a steal in the late second round and can develop his game in G League and then work his way to the main roster.
