2018 NBA Draft: Lake Show Life Mock Draft 1.0
The Los Angeles Clippers are in a good position. With two lottery picks, they can restock their roster with one shot. One area that they could use some help in as point guard. That makes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander a good fit for the Clippers at No. 12.
Milos Teodosic has a player option and Patrick Beverley is recovering from surgery, putting the point guard spot in question in Los Angeles. Gilgeous-Alexander would give them a nice building block in the backcourt with immense two-way potential.
Gilgeous-Alexander was a pleasant surprise for Kentucky last season. While not as highly regarded as the other freshman on the season, he helped get things going once he was inserted in the starting lineup. His play on both ends of the court helped jumpstart the Wildcards.
Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 14.4 points, 5.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. His confidence went up as the season progressed, as he is quickly moving up draft boards as well. He showed he can knock down a jumper as well, making 40.4 percent of his 3-point attempts, but attempted only 57 on the season.
His two-way potential would be a great fit with the Clippers. With scoring guards Austin Rivers and Lou Williams, Gilgeous-Alexander would give pair nicely alongside them as a playmaker and defensive minded player.
