After coming up short against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers are entering an offseason with a big question mark. While it’s hard to predict what will happen with LeBron James this offseason, the Cavaliers will have to try and do their best moving forward with or without him.
One of the glaring needs for the Cavaliers this season was at the point guard position. At the trade deadline, the Cavaliers acquired both George Hill and Jordan Clarkson. Unfortunately, neither played very well in the playoffs, as they were badly outplayed by the guards of the Warriors.
With the eighth pick, the Cavaliers addressed this need by selecting Collin Sexton from Alabama. Sexton had a great season for the Crimson Tide and is certainly capable of helping the Cavaliers at the guard spot. Sexton was asked to do a lot of Alabama, as he was their leading scorer despite being their point guard.
Sexton was a very hard-working on the defensive end of the court, which is also something that the Cavaliers need. While the Cavaliers hope James will be back, Sexton could help be a good supporting piece or the beginning of a new era.
