The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to make a major splash in free agency this offseason. These are some of the big names that they should be targeting to turn the team back into a title contender.

The timetable has been set for the Los Angeles Lakers to land a big-time superstar, and it was done by the man running the show, Magic Johnson. Earlier this week in a press conference to announce the Lakers recent draft picks, Magic flat out said he would step down if the Lakers do not sign a big name free agent within the next two seasons.

He also suggested that he should not be judged until after next summer, leaving some uncertainty about this year’s free agent class. He is the Lakers all-time leader in assists, but now he might have to make his biggest assist yet in free agency.

The guys that the Lakers are targeting are obvious in most cases because they are the best free agents on the market. That is also why there have been a ton of rumors already surrounding them going to Los Angeles.

Most of that speculation surrounds the best player in the NBA LeBron James, and he is for sure the number one target on the Lakers wish list. However, to make their plan come to fruition they will probably have to lure another big name to go along with him.

If they swing and miss on all of their main targets, there are other back up plans and free agents that could still help them become a playoff team next season. Then they could reload and try to swing for the fences again in the summer of 2019.
